Day 5: Mary’s journey, my journey

Consider the journey Mary Magdalene went on over three years

growing up in Magdala

becoming obsessed and addicted

meeting Jesus and being cured

supporting Jesus and his followers with her resources

standing near the cross

weeping outside the tomb

becoming the first apostle by witnessing to her experience of God

So – what happened next for Mary? Was she a key player in the early church in Jerusalem or Antioch? Let your imagination fill out the impact of her life-changing transformation.

How has your life taken surprising turns?

Reflecting on your own journey of the last week:

Using that prayerful practice many centuries old that can lead us to being mindful and present to the significance of our days and weeks .…the Examen:

  • I invite the Holy One to bring to my heart and mind the times this past week where I gave and received the most love.

  • I ask God to bring to light the moments where I gave and received the least love.

  • I let my feelings come to the surface. Silently, breathing gently, I let God’s love fill me just the way I am.

  • I give thanks for whatever I have experienced. I ask forgiveness where I need to.

  • I rest and reflect.
